Vertical Mills Suited for Variety of Applications

Republic Lagun's FTV manual vertical mills incorporate a number of design elements to ensure rigidity and stability during machining, including Meehanite main castings; wide saddles; an air-cooled, two-speed motor; a 3?" quill that is hard-chromed and uses a ground rack; and high-nickel-content lead screws that are rolled and ground.

Republic Lagun's FTV manual vertical mills incorporate a number of design elements to ensure rigidity and stability during machining, including Meehanite main castings; wide saddles; an air-cooled, two-speed motor; a 3 ?" quill that is hard-chromed and uses a ground rack; and high-nickel-content lead screws that are rolled and ground. The mills' heads can tilt 45 degrees forward and backward, and swivel 90 degrees left and right. A flood coolant system is standard.
 
The mills are available with 4"4 × 10", 55¼" × 10" and 58" × 11" table sizes. Handles for table locks are spring-loaded to allow repositioning once locked, clamping the table to the saddle rather than pushing on the gib to keep the saddle from distorting when locked.
 
The mills are suited for a variety of applications. In fact, five FTV-2 models with Newall digital readouts are used by All American Racers, a company led by racing legend Dan Gurney (pictured). Those mills proved helpful in manufacturing a ?-scale model of the innovative "DeltaWing" 2012 Le Mans race car for wind tunnel testing. The model's carbon fiber tires and stainless steel wheels include features that were milled to ±0.01 inch. The mills were said to be chosen by All American Racers because of their reliability while performing daily machining and precision work.
