Outstanding Features Detail Description

Head equipped with “High velocity cooling system” the generated “Air Flow”; keeps the head at constant temperature. The fully enclosed head will keep also dust from shop environment out; keeping clean and dust free critical parts and components such as: pulleys, belts, and bearings etc.

Two speed ranges 3HP constant drive (optional 4HP) , mechanical infinite variable speeds, and dynamically balanced head reaches full horse power over all the speed range, (Low 55 to 490 - High 490 to 4250 RPM) without the typical losses characteristic of EVS systems. As an illustration, this head is capable of reaching 287 ft-lb of torque. (382 ft-lb with optional 4hp) (See –Graphic HP vs. RPMS) at a mere 55 RPM.

Special Hi performance transmission belt. The heart of our mechanical infinite variable speed milling head uses the same hi-technology found in the continuously variable transmission of the latest Hybrid automobiles.

The quill 3 3/8” (85mm) is hard chromed with precision ground rack.

Spindle taper is R-8 (optional # 40 NST, #30 NST threaded to accept Erickson quick change nut, or universal quick switch 200 or 300) with four hi-precision class 7 bearings.

The head assembly can be tilted front-to-back and swiveled right-to-left. Angular settings employ worm and gear.

Ram/head assembly can be easily rotated a full 360° degrees.

Massive ram features 19"(483mm) of bearing length and 22 3/16"(563mm) travel.

The ram design allows use of optional slotting attachment mounted opposite the standard head (with optional kit 149-1140K).

All lead screws are thread rolled and precision ground.

A unique double nut assembly provides backlash adjustment of longitudinal and cross feed screws. Adjustment of this device eliminates backlash due to wear.

Table & saddle locks are conveniently located in front of the machine. Handles are spring loaded to allow repositioning once locked. This advanced design clamps the table to the saddle, does not push on a gib. As a result, the table will hold its position more accurate.

The 11 ½" (292mm) wide knee has square and dovetail way guides. This combination provides the rigidity of the square way design and retains the accuracy of the dovetail design. (See detail O1) Ways are hardened & ground.

The saddle has a full 23" (584mm) of bearing length supporting the table, allowing work-piece weights up to 750lbs. (341kg).

The one-shot central lubrication system provides oil to all sliding surfaces, nuts, and lead screws.

Anti-friction Turcite type bearings surface material is used throughout the machine.

A flood coolant system is Standard Equipment. Pump is located on top of base inside the column. The base acts as a reservoir. Access is through column opening.

	"SLOTTER" Vertical Shaping Attachment The 3/4 HP vertical shaping head performs intricate shapes. Rear mounted, may be swung into place to perform light shaping operations. Adjusted to any vertical or compound angle to the table, can produce shapes which normally requires special broach. It is a must in cases of blind holes.
