FEATURES:
ELECTROMAGNETIC
TABLE Republic
rotary grinders come standard with a forty-inch (40”)
diameter electromagnetic chuck. With a work height of 14”
under new grinding wheel segments and 17” under used
segments, this allows a large capacity to meet your requirements.
Table speeds are 5, 7, 10,15, 20 and 30 rpm.
GRINDING WHEEL
Republic
rotary grinders are equipped with a twenty-one inch (21”)
diameter grinding wheel. Segment pockets are designed to
accept all standard wheel segments. This grinding wheel
head has rapid up and down, automatic feed or manual feed.
CONTROL PANEL/DRESSER For
operator convenience, the controls are mounted on a control
panel mounted to the right of the access door. Functions
that are controlled from the operator’s panel are:
Start/Stop of the grinding wheel, drive unit of the grinding
table, rapid movement of the grinding wheel, control of
the electro-magnetic chuck and coolant system. A main motor
amp-meter is mounted on the headstock. The wheel dresser
unit is placed next to the main motor and uses standard
“star-style” dressers.
COOLANT SYSTEM Republic
Rotary Grinders are designed as a dry base machine with
the coolant discharge located at the rear of the machine.
This discharge can be used with a 210 gallon coolant tank,
or connected to a central cooling system.
MAIN SPINDLE A
forty (40 horsepower main spindle motor is supplied as standard
equipment. This motor is dual voltage and will be set to
each customer’s electrical requirements. (220/440/3/60).
Other voltages may require a transformer. (Option).
BASE
AND COLUMN The
stress relieved cast-iron components are manufactured with
rigid box high-grade construction generously ribbed for
strength. One flat and one “V” way provide bearing
surface. ELECTRICAL
CONTROL All
starters and protective relays for the motors are mounted
in a steel cabinet on the back of the machine, completely
wired to motors and push buttons. Just one connection to
the power circuit is necessary for installation. The wheel
motor has reduced voltage (Star Delta) starting and plugging,
and full voltage running on 60 cycles, 3-phase current.
Depressing the “Stop” button will quickly bring
the spindle to a complete halt. A disconnect switch is included,
interlocked with the door of the control cabinet. Pushbutton
circuits are 115-volt and clearly marked for quick, easy
identification. An ammeter for the main motor is conveniently
located for ease of operation. This is a useful guide for
maximum rate of feed, and shows when wheel dressing is necessary.
LUBRICATION
The
upper and lower spindle bearings are grease-lubricated periodically.
Lubrication of the table ways, feed mechanism, lead screw
and rotary table is continuous and automatic. The head ways
and in-feed mechanism are lubricated from a semiautomatic
pushbutton. Table rotation gears operate continuously in
oil, in a casing sealed against dirt and water.
