Tri-way Design, with three (3) V- ways, maintains perfect alignment of carriage on bed and eliminates any twisting.
Massive base is 1-piece Meehanite casting (no pedestals or sheet metal). Chip Pan is front removal so machine can be placed against a wall.
Extra wide bed provides stability and vibration absorption, stress relieved by annealing. Induction Hardened ways to HS 70-75 and precision ground.
Dovetail carriage and cross slide ways are Hardened & Ground then coated with Turcite-b linear anti-friction bearing material hand-scraped to ensure uniform matching surfaces.
Headstock gears are hardened and precision ground on Maag or Reishauer grinders for smooth, quiet, and vibration-free running.
Unique pressurized headstock automatic lubrication system from a separate electric pump and reservoir provides a constant flow of clean, cool oil to the headstock gears and bearings providing excellent thermal stability and maintaining work piece tolerances.
Four matched vee belts are used instead of standard set of three, with a balanced pulley. This provides stable and smooth running.
The EVS drive and main drive motor are dynamically balanced to optimize torque/horsepower in both gear ranges. CSS (Constant Surface Speed) is standard.
A 3-bearing alloy steel spindle is mounted on opposed Timken taper roller bearings. Spindle nose is cam-lock D1-6 with 2” bar capacity.
Special tailstock design with increased throat depth allows carriage to travel past the tailstock center for full length O.D. turning between centers.
Manual Operation Control Console slides full length of the centers distance and houses Manual Handwheel Controls, spindle and coolant controls, federate dials, E-stop. Provision can be made for adding controls for options such as Hydraulic Tailstock Quill Auto Turret Index, etc.
The electrical control cabinet is completely sealed to prevent dust, dirt, chips, or coolant from entering and is fan cooled. The transformer and resistor are housed separately, isolated below the control cabinet, to eliminate any heat.
